Springing into Life.

For the first time today
the sun held warmth again.

Children filled the parks
and the spaces in the town centre,
willing it to be summer,
for half term never to end.
People began to fill the streets,
slowly at first,
still clutching their umbrellas,
then faster as they emerged from
their winter shrouds.
A band played somewhere,
and the sky was shot with aeroplane lines.
Everything was starting to unfurl.

We walked among the blooming world
and you held my hand
making plans for the summer.
