Sunshine Love

Muggy head rests
on thump-thump chest;
up down, up down.
Your pulse thrums in my ears.

Face grazes my cheek, gentle-gritty,
while the summer wind outside marvels,
moaning through the reeds
and whispering across the water-top -
another one lost!
And I know it knows,
showing the wind as I sigh
into your kiss.

Low, summer-death sun
dusts the floor by our side.
Deepens into heady dusk,
then star-swilling night.
On and on, over and over.
Fingertips touch to touch
and the world runs by for right now,
we are eternal.

Time courses through it.
And so it will always be.
